Chubb are the world’ largest publicly traded property and casualty insurer, so it was no wonder when they decided to re-design their London office that they chose one of London’s leading design and build companies – Swift Refurbishments.

Chubb currently occupy all 7 floors of the ‘Chubb Building’ in central London but the existing design is tired and out dated, not in keeping with this dynamic company. Having worked with the client on previous projects, Swift Refurbishments held numerous design workshops to come up with a truly amazing office re-design that they knew the global leader would love.

The brief was to move away from the traditional office environment and incorporate an ‘open plan’ feel with flexible work-spaces.  This saw the removal of  the old glazed offices and the introduction of trendy break out areas, pod style meeting rooms and comfy seating.

Working closely with leading flooring manufacturer Interface each floor was designed to allow the subtle demarcation of walkways, with breakout spaces featuring a splash of colour from the Touch & Tones range to match the palette of the new modern furniture. A plank carpet tile from the Human Nature range was chosen to give a neutral tone to the main floor space. The Affinity Team installed the main field on a 45 degree angle with walkways installed in different directions to effortlessly guide you through each space.

On each of the floors Swift designed an open kitchen and breakout area. The flooring to this area had to still give a new modern feel but also offer the required practicalities of a heavily trafficked floor.  In this case we supplied and installed woven vinyl flooring by leading manufacturer Bolon. Five different tones of grey triangle tiles were installed in a random pattern to each of the 120 m2 breakout areas to produce an eye catching place for staff to stop and eat lunch!

In order to reduce our carbon footprint all the old carpet tiles were recycled. With each delivery of new flooring Interface would collect the old uplifted carpet tiles, as part of their ‘re-entry’ service and take them away for recycling!

We have now completed 2 floors for Chubb and 2 more are currently underway.

Affinity Project Manager Rob Bell has overseen all works on this project – “We have delivered each floor bang on programme and with zero snagging issues, its been great to work with the team from Swift.”
